Job Posting Description

The Simulation Development Engineer I will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to concept development and product design development team projects and may lead small scale projects.
  • Incorporating technical expertise, artistic ability, and understanding of mechanisms and prototype fabrication techniques, including RTV silicone molding, 3D printing to design novel devices and systems.
  • Using digital engineering design (SolidWorks preferred) and digital artwork generation tools (Mudbox®, Maya®, ZBrush) to develop drawings and specifications.
  • Fabricating devices for healthcare simulation, clinical and research applications, as per requester’s specifications or conceptual ideas with the aid of drawings, sketches and verbal descriptions, using hand and power tools.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of the engineering studio and its equipment and adherence to local practices and guidelines for the internal procedures and equipment use.
  • Maintaining an awareness of technological advances in areas of interest and advises management team.
  • Supporting the identification of improvements to existing services or addition of a new service to the SIMPeds Engineering Core.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or similar field and 2 years of related experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written.
  • Ability to follow established best work practices.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team, and to think critically, analyze options and to create great solutions to problems not previously encountered.
  • Ability to approach the role with curiosity and persistent desire for continuous learning to maintain technical competence.

The Simulation Development Engineer I will be responsible for:

  • Designing novel devices and systems for healthcare simulation, clinical and research applications, as per requester’s specifications or conceptual ideas with the aid of drawings, sketches and verbal descriptions.
  • Fabricating simple to complex prototype and finished devices and their tooling, using hand and power tools, using various prototype fabrication techniques, including RTV silicone molding and 3D printing / additive manufacturing.
  • Collaborating with clinicians and contributing to concept development and product design development team projects, may lead small scale projects.
  • Incorporating technical expertise, artistic ability, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, product design and fabrication processes to create custom designs.
  • Creating and editing 3D models and drawings using 3D CAD design software. Preferred experience with SOLIDWORKS.
  • Effectively working as part of a team that is pushing creative boundaries, to think critically, analyze options and to create great solutions to problems not previously encountered.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or similar field, Master’s preferred.
  • 2 years of related experience in one or more of the following: 3D Printing, Computer Aided Design, Device Development, Software Development, Immersive Technologies, Manufacturing, Materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written.
  • Ability to follow established best work practices.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team, and to think critically, analyze options and to create great solutions to problems not previously encountered.
