MSICU Team Training CRM (TR.3101.CC)

Background:The MSICU simulation team offers two different courses. The first course is a general CRM course that includes information on self-debriefing in order to provide practical debriefing skills to be used in real time. The focus of the second CRM course is the use of CRM principles when caring for a patient on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).

Format: 4 hours

Venue: ICU Simulation Suite (MSICU-SIM)
Frequency: 4 times per year

Participants: Clinicians, nurses and allied healthcare colleagues working in the MSICU.

Expertise Level: Intermediate

  • Implementation of crisis resource management principles:

    • event management
    • role clarity
    • communication
    • personnel support
    • global assessment
  • Engagement scheduled over two high-fidelity simulations, followed by debriefing discussion focused on human factors.

  • Clinical scenarios designed to model cases common in or specific to practice in the MSICU.
